Live masterclass inside the LedWall studios in Turin where "The Opera" with Vincent Cassel was filmed.

The teacher, Nicola di Meo, supervised the Virtual Set during filming.


The course is in Italian and will start only when the minimum number of participants is reached.

The first 8 participants will have an early bird at €3000.
The subsequent participants will have the full cost of €4000.

BY FOLLOWING THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

-Have complete knowledge of all the elements necessary for the correct functioning of a led volume for virtual production.

-Have basic technical knowledge of the types of led hardware and control processors with specifications suitable for supporting virtual production ecosystems.

-Develop the ability to build the basic project on Unreal Engine with the creation of the 3d led volume exactly coinciding with the existing system to be managed.

-Have knowledge of all the various types of existing tracking systems.

-Develop skills in the management and integration of active or passive tracking systems.

-Develop the ability to manage network systems necessary for the correct functioning of complex nodal structures for virtual production and methods of verification and optimization of the same.

-Have basic knowledge of the various methods of synchronization of the metadata of the lenses and sensors of the camera bodies.

-Develop the ability to configure synchronization systems between camera, ledwall, media server and tracking systems, such as Genlock and Timecode.

-Develop the ability to set and align real cameras with their metadata to virtual cameras with the same values ​​transferred in real time to simulate exactly aperture, focus and zoom.

-Develop the ability to manage LED color profiles with maximum rendering and depth control while minimizing the risk of generating chromatic artifacts.

Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine.

1 Day - Fundamentals of Virtual Production

  • Introduction to Virtual Production and Industry Overview

  • Pipeline and professional figures involved

  • Key technologies: LED wall, camera tracking, Unreal Engine

  • Analysis of real case studies (ADV, cinema, video clips)

2 Day - Unreal Engine for Virtual Production

  • Setting up a project for VP

  • Managing 3D environments, optimization and LOD

  • Lighting, post-processing and real-time control

  • Introduction to "nDisplay vs uDisplay" and the synchronization system

3 Day - Set Extension, DoF and Grade Matching

  • Theory and practice of perspective correction and depth of field

  • Matching techniques between real foreground and digital background

  • Simulation of environments, materials and realistic lighting

  • Integration with physical cameras and real lenses

4 Day - Workflow and production management

  • Previs, techviz e shooting board

  • Integration with VFX assets and external pipelines

  • Audio/video sync, timecode and lens data

  • Preparation for work on set

5/6 Day - Practice on Virtual Set (In Studio)

  • LED wall setup

  • Camera tracking calibration and staging

  • Full setup in Unreal with environments and scenes

  • Real shooting simulation with actors and crew

  • Final review, common mistakes and best practices
