Warhorse Studios doubles: new Kingdom Come and open-world RPG in Middle-earth
Warhorse Studios has officially confirmed that it is working on two major open-world RPGs developed in parallel. The news was revealed during a recent livestream from the studio featuring Tom Grey and Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, who clarified several details about the team’s upcoming projects.
On one side there will be a new adventure set in the Kingdom Come universe, and on the other an ambitious open-world RPG set in Middle-earth.
The new RPG in Middle-earth
The project that has attracted the most attention is without a doubt the one set in Middle-earth. The game will be directed by Viktor Bocan, who was already the design director of the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
No details about the story or setting have been shared yet, but according to some leaks the budget is said to be very high, reportedly around 100 million dollars.
The idea of seeing Warhorse’s realistic and immersive style applied to a fantasy universe has already sparked excitement among fans.
A new Kingdom Come chapter
The studio has also confirmed that a new Kingdom Come adventure is already in development. After the initial announcement, some fans believed it might be a spin-off, but Warhorse clarified that it will be a full-fledged open-world RPG.
The project will be directed by Prokop Jirsa and, according to what was stated during the livestream, it is expected to arrive in the next fiscal year. This means players won’t have to wait another seven years for the next entry in the series.
Warhorse works on two projects at the same time
For Warhorse Studios, this marks an important stage of growth. The team explained that it is now large enough to work simultaneously on two separate major IPs.
An ambitious move that could mark a new era for the Czech studio and the future of its RPGs.
