MIA Film Work-in-Progress: applications open for C EU Soon until 17 July

In view of the next edition of the MIA | International Audiovisual Market, scheduled in Rome from 19 to 23 October 2026, applications are now open for C EU Soon, the work-in-progress programme dedicated to European feature films in the final stages of production and post-production.

Applications can be submitted until Friday 17 July 2026 at 5:00 p.m. (CEST), while the selected projects will be announced by mid-September.

An opportunity for films nearing completion

C EU Soon is an initiative designed to support up to twelve European feature films that are at an advanced stage of production. The program offers selected projects the opportunity to present themselves to a qualified audience of sales agents, distributors, producers, and festival programmers, with the aim of encouraging the completion of the works and increasing their international distribution prospects.

Each selected project will participate in an exclusive session that includes the presentation of unreleased clips, a pitch from the producer and/or director, and a series of one-to-one meetings organized with accredited market professionals.

The selected films will also compete for the Screen International Award, a recognition that offers the winning project dedicated editorial coverage in the international newspaper Screen International, helping to increase its visibility during the path towards its debut at festivals and distribution.

New for 2026: space also for animation

The main novelty of this edition concerns the opening of the program also to animated feature films.

Alongside traditional live action fiction films, animated narrative works can also apply, provided that at least 70% of the overall running time is made in animation.

Who can participate

The call is aimed at:

  • European live action feature films;

  • European animated feature films;

  • co-productions with a European majority.

Among the main requirements:

  • minimum duration of 70 minutes;

  • advanced stage of production or post-production;

  • international distribution potential;

  • priority destination for theatrical release.

Documentaries are not eligible, for which the MIA proposes the dedicated program Italians Doc It Better.

Why apply

Over the years, C EU Soon has established itself as one of the most important events at MIA for European producers looking for international partners in the final stages of development of their films.

Participating means being able to come into direct contact with distributors, sales agents and festival programmers, increasing the chances of finalizing the project, finding distribution agreements and starting a journey at the main international festivals.
Several films presented in previous editions have in fact continued their journey, obtaining selections and awards at events such as the Berlinale, the Locarno Film Festival and the Málaga Film Festival.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the official platform of the MIA | International Audiovisual Market by Friday 17 July 2026 at 5:00 PM (CEST).
