MetaHuman Creator Web App: Closing November 5, 2026
Epic Games will permanently shut down the MetaHuman Creator web application on November 5 2026. After that dateyou will have approximately 90 days to recover any characters still in your gallery. After this deadline
any unexported MetaHumans will be deleted. MetaHuman is not going away: its features are already natively integrated into Unreal Engine starting with version 5.6. From that point on
character creation and editing will take place directly in the editor.
Official Timeline
April 5, 2026 → disabled selection of EU versions 4.27, 5.0 and 5.1
June 5, 2026 → disabled selection of EU versions 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4
2026. After that date → complete shutdown of the web app
Early February 2027 → end of the recovery period and deletion of the remaining online characters
What to do
Those who still have characters in the web gallery must export them via Quixel Bridge (preferably from within Unreal Engine) choosing Cinematic quality (Complete).
To continue editing them, you need to migrate them to the MetaHuman Creator integrated in UE 5.6 or higher, following the official Epic guide.
MetaHumans created in UE 4.27 cannot be migrated.
Benefits of the new workflow
Switching to the Unreal editor allows you to work offline, automate operations with Python or Blueprint, and have tighter integration with MetaHuman Animator and other real-time tools.
