International Audiovisual Market 2025: Opportunities for Lazio SMEs
The Lazio Region, through Lazio Innova and with the support of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, offers an unmissable opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises in the audiovisual sector: to participate in the 11th edition of MIA | International Audiovisual Market, which will take place in Rome from October 6 to 10, 2025, between Palazzo Barberini and Cinema Barberini.
This is an international event designed to foster the internationalization of companies and give visibility to film and series projects in development, connecting them with buyers, commissioners, and potential international partners.
Why participate
MIA is not just a fair: it is a true hub for the audiovisual industry.
Over more than ten years, the event has established itself as a benchmark for co-productions, business deals, and networking.
For the 12 selected SMEs, participation will include:
Industry Full passes for two people, valid for the entire event;
Masterclass in English with an international coach;
B2B meetings and matchmaking with professionals from around the world;
90-minute pitching session at Cinema Barberini;
Working tables at Palazzo Barberini;
Project inclusion on the MIA digital platform;
Networking events dedicated to selected projects.
Who can participate
The initiative is aimed at SMEs with legal or operational headquarters in Lazio, operating in the audiovisual sector.
Eligible projects include:
Fiction films of at least 70 minutes;
Scripted series with episodes of at least 20 minutes.
Projects must be in development, have an Italian director and an already attached producer, and include: a subject or treatment (or bible for series), a provisional budget, and a financial plan.
All materials must be provided in English.
Projects of a pornographic, violent, or discriminatory nature will not be accepted.
Selection process
A Selection Committee, composed of representatives from Lazio Region, Lazio Innova, the Rome Chamber of Commerce, and two MIA experts, will choose the 12 most deserving SMEs.
The main evaluation criteria are:
Originality and innovation of the project;
Potential for international co-production;
Distribution potential;
Experience of the production company;
Diversity and inclusion in the storyline.
In case of a tie, priority will be given to the order of submission.
Costs and financial support
Participation is free for selected companies, with costs covered by the promoting entities.
The support is classified under the “de minimis” regime, up to €5,000 per company, with the obligation to respect EU limits.
Any extra services or customization requested will remain at the companies’ expense.
MIA 2025 represents a concrete opportunity for Lazio SMEs aiming to grow and present their audiovisual projects to an international audience.
