Houdini Game Art Challenge!
The Game Art Challenge 2025 by SideFX is an international competition designed for all 3D artists eager to put their skills to the test using Houdini, by creating real-time art and assets for game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
Participants can choose to compete in one of three main categories, each with its own objectives, technical requirements, and dedicated prizes. Here’s an overview of the challenges:
Best Realtime Environment
Focus: Create an environment featuring the remains of a lost city.Best Realtime FX
Focus: Design a visual effect (magical, destructive, or natural) that fits the fantasy world of Elderwood.
Best Game Art Tool
Focus: Develop a Houdini Digital Asset (HDA) that streamlines the creation of real-time art in Unreal or Unity.

Submission Deadline: July 14, 2025, at 11:59 PM EDT
How to Participate: Entries must be posted in the official 2025 Game Art Challenge forum, in the section corresponding to the chosen category.
Sharing the Process: Participants are strongly encouraged to open a Work in Progress thread to showcase their creative process and receive feedback from the community.
In addition to physical prizes such as laptops, Houdini licenses, and exclusive SWAG packs, winners in each category will have the chance to interview for an internship directly with SideFX.
Option to request a 6-month trial license of Houdini Indie.
