Explore A-COM sample projects today!
Epic Games and Agora Studio have released two sample projects for Unreal Engine 5.6: the A-COM Animatic Sample and the A-COM Animation Sample.
These samples offer animators and creators a unique opportunity to dive into a complete filmmaking pipeline, entirely managed within Unreal Engine.
End-to-End Animation Production in UE5
The projects are derived from "Beta's Intro", a series of short films built entirely in Unreal Engine 5.
This is a showcase of a professional, integrated workflow, demonstrating how UE5 can handle every stage of production, from concept to final rendering, without the need to constantly switch to external applications.
1. A-COM Animatic Sample
L'A-COM Animatic Sample focuses on the previsualization and storyboarding phase.
2D Storyboard in 3D Space: Using the Odyssey plugin by PraxinosCoop, artists can draw sketches, poses and actions directly in the 3D environment of Unreal Engine.
Integration: The project shows how to organize storyboards and camera cuts in Sequencer, combining 2D and 3D layers to plan a cinematic efficiently.
2. A-COM Animation Sample
TheA-COM Animation Sample pulls back the curtain on a complete animation pipeline, making all the assets, animations and tools used for the short film available.
Everything in UE5: Covers every stage: from rigging and keyframe animation to lighting, visual effects (FX) and rendering, handled directly in Unreal Engine 5.
Sequencer at the Center: Il sistema di editing basato su timeline di Unreal Engine, è il "master edit" che consente di integrare animazione, lavoro di telecamera e arte ambientale in un unico spazio coeso.
Advanced Techniques: Methodologies are demonstrated such as:
The use of dedicated Control Rigs for stylized characters.
Real-time manipulation of rigs, including easy switching between IK and FK.
The use of dedicated Sculpt Morph to create blend shapes directly in Unreal, without switching to external DCC tools.
The hybrid combination of Niagara particle simulations and 2D FX projected via the Image Plateplugin, merging hand-drawn art with real-time rendering.
An Unmissable Learning Resource
These example projects serve as a learning tool for both beginners and experienced users.
For Beginners: They can explore a ready-to-use project structure, professional lighting setups, and Sequencer organization.
For Advanced Users: They can delve into modular rig setups, complex Sequencer organization, FX integration, and rendering workflows with Movie Render Graph.
In summary, Agora Studio and Epic Games' initiative solidifies the vision of Unreal Engine as a complete animation environment, providing the community with the resources needed to push the boundaries of real-time filmmaking.
