Epic MegaGrants: a concrete opportunity for those who create in Unreal Engine

Epic MegaGrants is the funding program promoted by Epic Games to support innovative projects in the field of real-time 3D development.
The initiative is designed to help promising ideas that, without financial support, would struggle to reach their full potential.

The program is primarily aimed at small teams, independent developers and solo creators who use Unreal Engine to create ambitious, creative and technically advanced experiences.

Application Windows in 2026

Epic MegaGrants is structured in two annual cycles:

  • Cycle 1

    • Applications: January 12 – March 20, 2026

    • Evaluation: March 21 – June 14, 2026

    • Responses: June 15–19, 2026

  • Cycle 2

    • Applications: June 29 – September 4, 2026

    • Evaluation: September 5 – December 4, 2026

    • Responses: December 7–11, 2026

Applications are reviewed by Epic during the review period, after which selected projects are officially notified.

Who can apply?

The program is open to different types of projects, as long as they are linked to the Unreal ecosystem:

  • Indie video games, developed by small teams or individual developers

  • UEFN experiences, designed for the new generation of content on Fortnite

  • Projects migrating from other engines, which need support for the transition to Unreal Engine

  • Other creative projects, such as open source tools, immersive experiences, applications for cinema, animation or 3D visualization

Why it is an important initiative

Epic MegaGrants is not just a financial contribution: it represents a declaration of trust towards the creative community.
The goal is to accelerate innovation in real-time 3D by lowering barriers to entry and enabling bold ideas to become concrete products.

For developers and creatives working with Unreal Engine, this is an opportunity worth monitoring closely.
