Call for Content Creators for Virtual Set - Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia
The Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia , National Film School, announces the selections for n. 6 places for the Content Creation for Virtual Set workshop (Entry Level) curated by Daniele Barone, Lorenzo Raffi, Nicola Di Meo and Diana Branca.
The workshop will be held at the CSC located in Rome , via Tuscolana 1520 and will have a duration of n. 80 hours, from November 10th to December 5th 2025 , approximately from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM .
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Introduction to Unreal Engine
Installation, configuration and interface overview.
Project management and content organization.
Shading and PBR Materials
Basic nodes (Base Color, Roughness, Metallic, Normal).
Creation of physically realistic materials and texture optimization.
Practical laboratory training lasting 54 hours
Import and Management of 3D Assets
Import pipeline from Maya/Blender/ZBrush (FBX, OBJ formats).
Best practices for mesh and texture management.
Lighting and Scene Setup
Types of lights (Static, Stationary, Movable) and cinematic lighting techniques.
Creation of scene atmospheres and moods.
Virtual Production Integration
Notes on green screen, tracking and workflows.
Setting up a small virtual set in real time.
Final Project
Creation of a complete virtual environment.
Review, optimization and presentation of the work
At the end of the workshop, students who have successfully attended the planned program will receive a certificate of attendance .

Attendance at the workshop is mandatory .
A maximum of 3 days of absence is permitted under penalty of forfeiture of the workshop. Participation at the workshop is free .
The workshop will be held in Italian.
Workshop objectives The “Content Creation for Virtual Set (Entry Level)” course is designed for those who want to approach Virtual Production and the Unreal Engine, focusing on the creation of 3D assets, shading and real-time lighting .
Although it is an introductory course to the use of Unreal Engine, a basic knowledge of 3D modeling and texturing (using software such as Maya, Blender or ZBrush) is required to make the most of the educational contents, which focus on:
Importing and managing 3D assets in Unreal Engine.
Creation of PBR materials and texture optimization.
Fundamentals of realistic and cinematic lighting.
Notes on Virtual Production and virtual set.
Upon completion, participants will be able to set up a small virtual set , prepare their own 3D assets in a professional manner and experiment with the potential of Unreal Engine in the field of entertainment and audiovisual production.
Requirements for admission to the selections
You must possess, on the date of signing the application, a secondary school diploma or other equivalent qualification (if foreign, translated in accordance with current legislation) which, regardless of citizenship, gives access to university studies;
Age over 18 years;
Knowledge of the English language.
Application and documentation for admission to the selections
The application for admission, together with all the required documentation, must be submitted exclusively through registration on the online platform and by completing the specific form on the Foundation's website at the following address: https://bandisnc.fondazionecsc.it/home_pnrr by the mandatory deadline of 12:00 noon on October 26, 2025 . Any applications submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration. Likewise, applications submitted using methods other than those set out in this Notice will not be taken into consideration. The registration system will issue a specific receipt of registration.
Applications whose examination results in the failure to meet the required requirements will not be taken into consideration.
Each application must be accompanied, under penalty of disqualification, by:

Date and place of birth
Place of residence
A brief curriculum vitae (with contact information: email, mobile)
A cover letter
Anyone with disabilities, temporary or permanent disabilities, or specific learning disabilities (SLD) may request aids to attend the training activity if admitted to the workshop. In this case, the candidate must send the relevant health documentation issued by the NHS or by private entities accredited and authorized by the region to support their request to the email address formazionepnrr@fondazionecsc.it.
All candidates who have attached the required materials and who, based on their application, meet the requirements set out in the Call for Applications, are admitted to the selection process.
