An abandoned building comes to life: the new UE5 tutorial from Polygonflow Dash
A new tutorial dedicated to creating environments in Unreal Engine 5has arrived, and this time the protagonist is a building completely overgrown with vegetation.
In the new video, Polygonflow Dash shows how to transform a simple architectural model into a scene rich in details, capable of immediately conveying the atmosphere of an abandoned place reclaimed by nature.
An interesting workflow for those who love creating post-apocalyptic environments, ruins, forgotten structures and scenarios in which architecture and vegetation merge.
The tutorial focuses on using the Dash toolset to speed up and simplify the set dressing process.
Through vegetation scattering techniques it is possible to quickly distribute large quantities of plants and organic details, avoiding the manual work required to position each individual element.
One of the most interesting aspects concerns the creation of the vines and climbing vegetation, essential to give the building that appearance of a structure now completely reclaimed by nature.
Added to this is the use of physically-based positioning, useful for distributing props and objects in a more natural and believable way within the scene.
The tutorial also shows how to manage large asset libraries, a fundamental aspect when working on complex environments.
Having hundreds of models at your disposal can quickly become overwhelming, but with the right tools you can select, distribute and combine assets much more efficiently.
The final result is an extremely rich environment, in which every element contributes to telling the story of the place: vegetation, abandoned objects, debris and architectural details combine to create a believable scene.
For those working with Unreal Engine 5 and want to improve their workflow in creating natural and abandoned environments, this tutorial represents an interesting opportunity to discover how procedural tools and scattering techniques can drastically reduce production times, while maintaining a high level of detail.
