Project Lighthouse: Poly Haven's new creative challenge
Poly Haven is back with an initiative that promises to involve 3D artists from around the world: Project Lighthouse, a large community project that will accompany the development of their first video game.
The goal is simple and ambitious at the same time: to create together a library of completely free 3D assets published under CC0, which will be directly included in the game.
A video game to showcase the potential of open-source assets
Project Lighthouse is a first-person game based on atmospheric exploration and environmental puzzle-solving. The player finds themselves on a remote, rocky island, tasked with restoring the functioning of a vital lighthouse.
But when the lighthouse mechanism is activated, something unexpected happens: the island is enveloped in a dome of energy and undergoes a violent transformation, with the lighthouse at the center of a mysterious scientific accident. Thanks to an experimental teleportation technology, the player will have to explore the environment, discover what happened to the missing inhabitants and understand the nature of the experiment.
How the challenge works
Artists are free to choose an asset to create, as long as it is consistent with the theme of the game.
Each contribution, once approved, will be:
included in Poly Haven's open CC0 library,
potentially inserted into the game,
published with credit to the artist.
It doesn't matter whether you are an expert or a beginner: the important thing is to aim for quality and follow the technical guidelines provided by Poly Haven.
Prizes and rewards
All participants will receive access to the closed beta of the game, a copy at launch and the official role of “Project Lighthouse Contributor” on Discord.
Furthermore, thanks to the numerous sponsors, more than 50 prizes are available including software, courses and plugins, which will be awarded by community voting after the deadline.
Important dates
February 2026: submissions open
May 1, 2026: deadline
Summer 2026: voting and beta testing
Project Lighthouse is the ideal opportunity to improve your skills, contribute to a real project and release free assets useful to the entire community.
A creative way to collaborate, learn and leave your mark on a game coming in 2026.
