Buona la Prima - Episode 47
Pietro Faccio and Sergio Rocco of Buona la Prima take us into their wonderful world dedicated to the video game industry.
The Buona la Prima podcast is a partner of Biunivoca.
In this episode we analyzed Genie 3, a model capable of generating interactive worlds that can be explored in real time starting from a text prompt or an image.
The technology allows you to immediately enter a navigable environment generated on the fly.
However, it is not a traditional engine like Unreal Engine or Unity, nor a tool ready to produce complete video games upon simple request.
During the episode, it was highlighted how the online enthusiasm has generated overreactions, including the fear that similar tools could render established studios and pipelines obsolete.
The current reality is different: short sessions, limited access, still imperfect physics and collisions, generative and non-deterministic output.
The key point that emerged from the discussion is that the value of gaming lies not only in the generation of environments, but in IP, community, design, art direction, production, and final quality.
In the short term, the most concrete impact could concern areas such as simulation and robotics training, rather than the instant creation of AAA video games.
