All VFX School Houdini courses now free until 2027
Very exciting news for those who work, or want to start working, in the world of visual effects (VFX) and computer graphics: the entire VFX School course library has been made free online until March 1, 2027.
The decision comes alongside the closure of the VFX Campus educational platform, which has decided to make all its content available as a thank you to the community that has supported the project over the years. This means that anyone can access the courses for free, without registration or payment, and also download the project files used in the lessons.
What the courses include
The library includes 7 complete courses dedicated to Houdini, the software developed by SideFX and widely used in the film and visual effects industries.
The contents cover different aspects of VFX production, including:
physical simulations and procedural animation
destruction and rigid body simulations
fire and pyro effects
fluid simulations
compositing and production workflow
the complete program Houdini Renascence
In general, the educational path starts from the basics of the software up to more advanced techniques for creating complex and cinematic visual effects.
Access to materials and project files
One of the most interesting aspects of this initiative is that it is not just about video tutorials. In addition to the lessons, students can also download:
scene files
assets used in the projects
ZIP files with exercises
This allows you to exactly recreate the workflows shown in the courses and better understand how Houdini's procedural systems work.
Why it's a great opportunity
Houdini is known for its rather steep learning curve, but at the same time it is one of the most powerful tools in the field of visual effects for film, advertising, and video games.
For those who want to enter the VFX industry, having free access to such a comprehensive course package is a rare opportunity.
In many cases, similar programs can cost hundreds or thousands of euros.
How to get started
To follow the courses, simply:
download Houdini Apprentice, the free version of the software
access the course library
download videos and project files
Since the videos are hosted on external platforms and availability is guaranteed only until March 1, 2027, we recommend that you download the material as soon as possible to keep it offline.
