ITS Leonardo Academy Open Day – 10 September 2026

On September 10, 2026, ITS Leonardo Academy opened the doors of its Boltiere campus for a day dedicated to the presentation of its two new two-year programs: Gaming Simulation Industry and Sales & Marketing Specialist.

The event brought together students, families, companies, and professionals interested in discovering a career-oriented educational offering based on classroom activities, hands-on workshops, and 800 hours of in-company training.

The Day’s Program

The day began at 2:30 PM with the Special Open Lab, featuring two parallel workshops focused on the content of the new programs.

The first explored the fields of Digital Twin, industrial simulation, and Unreal Engine, while the second focused on B2B sales and marketing strategies.

At 6:30 PM, the Special Smart Talk, titled “Visions, Experiences and Skills from the Industrial World”, took place, providing an opportunity for direct discussion with partner companies.

The day concluded at 7:30 PM with the Special Happy Hour, offering an informal networking opportunity for participants, instructors, and representatives from the business community.

Unreal Engine and Industrial Robotics

As part of the workshop dedicated to the Gaming Simulation Industry program, we conducted a practical session focused on the use of Unreal Engine for industrial robotic systems simulation.

The session was led by Matteo Frattini, Unreal Engine Authorized Instructor and instructor at Biunivoca, who guided participants through the creation of a rigged mechanical arm that could be controlled in real time.

Starting from the 3D model, participants worked on the rig structure and control logic, connecting the robot's movements to Unreal Engine Input Actions. Mouse and keyboard could then be used to directly control the robot's joints within the simulation environment.

The result was not simply a pre-recorded animation, but an interactive system capable of responding to user input in real time.

The workshop aimed to demonstrate in a practical way:

  • how to structure the rig of a robotic arm in Unreal Engine;

  • how to connect movement logic to Input Actions;

  • how to bring a model from a CAD workflow into Unreal Engine;

  • how to use a real-time environment for training, prototyping, and simulation applications.

The approach was deliberately hands-on, with less theory and more practical work, allowing participants to work directly on the project and gain their first experience with tools and workflows similar to those used in professional environments.

From Training to Simulation

Experiences like this provide an opportunity to understand how a real-time engine such as Unreal Engine can go beyond entertainment, becoming a tool for interactive visualization, industrial simulation, and training.

The workshop therefore provided a practical example of the type of skills that the Gaming Simulation Industry program aims to develop, bringing together 3D modeling, rigging, visual programming, and real-time technologies.
